Conceptual Reading Speed
I'm very surprised at how domain-specific technical fluency can be. I am much slower at understanding and writing equations than I am at understanding and writing code, even if they're describing the same underlying thing.
Like, I see named functions being called and I'm very happy. I see Greek everywhere () and I'm not very happy. But really they're talking about the same thing. It is only the UI of the concept essentially.
The concrete example here is that I feel much slower at reading ML equations than I am at reading ML code. I can imagine the opposite being true for a very math-heavy theoretical ML researcher.
